Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark gave me nightmares. Recurring, weird smoky ones with scarecrows and sewer-born spindly horrorpets and spiders crawling out faces. The book is on our kids’ Halloween display, but Christ, they got rid of all the original illustrations. The new edition is pathetic. Probably they got sued. Because look! Agh I never should’ve googled this.
